Description

Build a strong foundation in aviation security, airport security and civil aviation protection with this beginner-friendly professional training course.

Aviation security involves much more than passenger screening. Modern civil aviation depends on multiple layers of protection covering airports, aircraft, passengers, baggage, cargo, employees, restricted areas and aviation operations.

This course introduces the essential principles behind that system and explains how different security controls work together to protect civil aviation against deliberate threats and acts of unlawful interference.

You will begin by understanding the important difference between aviation safety and aviation security, before exploring the types of threats aviation security is designed to prevent.

The course then introduces the international aviation security framework, including the role of the International Civil Aviation Organization — ICAO, the purpose of ICAO Annex 17, and how international aviation security standards influence national requirements, airport procedures, airline security programmes and organisational security practices.

Throughout the course, the focus is not simply on memorising definitions. The lessons explain why aviation security controls exist, how they connect, and how individual behaviour can strengthen or weaken the overall security system.

The course is designed for aviation students, beginners, airport employees, airline personnel, ground handling staff, maintenance personnel, cargo employees, operational staff and aviation professionals who want a practical introduction or refresher to aviation security.

No previous aviation security experience is required.

Please note that this course provides fundamental and awareness-level training. Specialist security activities such as security screening, aircraft security searches and other regulated procedures require appropriate authorised and role-specific training.

By the end of the course, you should have a much clearer understanding of how aviation security works and why every person working within civil aviation has a role in protecting the system.
